Thought for a Saturday.

Good Afternoon, the graphic is perfect for the day we are having today heavy rain again, the reservoirs must be about full now I would think after the week we have had.  When we were in Perth on Thusday one of the main parks, The South Inch was flooded enough to have ducks sailing on it so after yesterdays rain and todays goodness knows what it will be like.Stuart has been off to the Doctors this morning to have his flu injection, he was so quick he was back before his appointment was due wonder how he does it, as I am there forever when I go.  In Boots the other day a nurse stopped us and asked if I we would like to have flu jabs we said Stuart gets one but I am no old enough yet but she said they are doing them in Boots for £15. and anybody can have one.  I paid £30 last winter for a private one so I thought it was a good deal.  I could not have one on Thursday due to the fact I was giving a blood sample yesterday but said I would have one next time I was in.  I mentioned this offer to the nurse who took my blood yesterday and she said she was not allowed to give these vacinations and there should be paramedics standing by when doing these injections. She has really put me off by saying this and now I don't know what to do.

Listening to the news this morning it was so distressing to hear that they are putting out extra police for Halloween in case of trouble and are going to have on the spot fines for any trouble. Many people were saying how they are frightened to answer the door at this time of year you just wonder what things are coming to. When I was a child it was great fun and there was never any trouble oh dear what is happening to this country. Well I had better go and see what we are going to have for our lunch so I wish you all a pleasant Saturday. Bye for now and don't forget

Love Joan.

We cannot seem to enjoy Halloween the way they do in America.  It is such a shame. We will not answer the door on that evening because it is usually gangs of teenage boys who want money. We get the bad side without the good. I have been unable to have my flu injection yet because of this bug.  Almost gone but still a little chesty and head full of catarrh. I just hope I do not miss it.

Rob is on back shift on hallowe'en so I will not be opening the door to anyone, mind you where we live people tend to forget that this street is here as it is a cul-de-sac! Hope the rain stops so you can venture out for one of your walks this weekend. Boots have a reputation so it will all be above board, I would say go for it!

I don't like Halloween either, just an excuse for kids to misbehave. I would have thought it was safe in Boots to get an injection, they have Healthcare assistants and pharmacists there. We have rain and wind here today, it's really dark and yucky! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

I agree with Jeannette ~ Boots do have trained staff there and so long as you sit and have a rest afterwards everything should be OK ~ It is sad that Halloween isn't fun anymore and that gangs of youths are frightening people ~ wonder what things are coming to when they are putting out extra Police in case of trouble ~ Hope you are having a good weekend ~ Ally

Hi Joan,
I was on the beach in Monifieth on Saturday afternoon with Sarah and a little friend of hers. The sun was shining and it was warm despite the stiff breeze. The children were making sand castles and collecting shells and there were kite surfers and wind surfers taking advantage of the good conditions! I wish I had had my camera with me now that I hear you had rain in Perthshire!

the problem is that our halloween didn't exist in England according to my Englsih mother. When she came here as young bride in1951 she had never encountered Halloween. Now England has adopted the American trick or treat with its associated violence and nastiness.

No more dressing up as a frog and going guising and dointg your story, poem, dance......

sad really...........

It is worrying about the extra police - I feel lucky living in a block of flats - never been bothered by trick or treaters.  You can understand why people get scared.  Poor things :(
