Modern Technology

Good morning  Musing today and not bird watching. We bought a twin phone system back in April and have the most awful trouble with it. The phone side works fine and the internal link is so handy, but the answering machine is a nightmare.  If someone phones and hangs up and does not leave a message once the machine has picked up we cannot get it to clear away the none existing message. This morning Stuart has been setting the phone back to factory setting and putting all the phone numbers back in.  I have had a break here as we have been for our walk.  While walking Stuart phoned home on his mobile to make sure all was working OK. You will not believe what he said to the answering machine" If you do no clear this message when I get home you are going in the bin" talk about 'Fawlty Towers.' The problem with this phone is when these annoying call centres call whenever they hear a machine click on they hang up and when we get home we think we have a message and there is nothing there to play back or delete we try to delete it but the light keeps flashing and it is so annoying as it keeps catching your eye.  When we came in just now Stuart cleared the message he left no bother at all so it will not be in the bin today. Cold dark day up here and the rain is just starting so we won't be out again today.  I know I said good morning at the start and it was when I started this but I got dragged out for our walk halfway through.  Will have to go now and get the lunch made. Love and take care.

How strange!  I just got my first answering machine yesterday, so don't know much about them yet.  That does sound annoying though!
Cold here too today, I need a snuggly blanket or something!!

Joan hope the phone keeps working OK....what a nuisance not being able to clear a non existing msg...Stuart rings home and threatens the answering machine I did like that one....Sounds just like Basil from Fawlty Towers...lol.....Hope you enjoyed your walk......Ally

I know what you mean about the no message problem......I've solved it by just turning the volume down, letting it run it's course for as long as it takes to cut off then it should be able to be deleted! Try that, if that does not work just put a polite request in your message just to ask if they just leave a name even if they do not want to leave a message......at least that way it can be played back and deleted okay.

Stuart can come and fix my phone anytime he wants... I got a new one too and can't figure out how to tell who is calling without hanging up on the person... I guess a new phone is nice once you figure out how to use it... Glad it didn't go into the bin. Sandra

I've had a 'Panasonic' Machine for almost 8yrs It's a'Phone/Answering Machine/Fax/and also a Copier. It does everything but -make the Tea (lol) I got a Fax machine because Allan's Mum is Deaf, and it is my way of  'Speaking' to her.
Never had a problem with it.

Is yours still under Guarantee -or could you exchange it?

We used to have the worst luck with answering machines so we got voicemail thru our phone company.  It costs more but I'm not yelling at the machine anymore...lol!
